Trained By: Architect, Armorer, Carpenter, Jeweler, Tinker, Weaponsmith Title: Tinker General InfoThe four ingot types used for tinkering are metal, glass, clay and gold. You can make all kinds of different things based on what you use your tools on. When tinkering with Clay ingots you have to be standing near an oven. Tinkered ItemsTo tinker items you will need a set of tinker's tools. These can be bought from various NPC Vendors including Provisioner's or made with tinker tools and metal ingots.
NOTE: Creatures made from porcelain/obsidian are also subject to magery skill check. You will require Magery of 80 or above to be succesful at tinkering one of these items. Making CandlesYou need 5 wax, a kettle, a dipping stick and a head (carve monster for head) to make a skull candle. If you just want candles, you dont need the head. You must pass a tinkering skill check to create a candle. Here's how it's done:
Preserved HeadsWhen you carve a head from a corpse, it will only last for 3 days. To prolong the life of your heads, you can have a tinker preserve them. All it takes is the head, straw, and a greater cure potion. Use either tinker tools or a tool kit on the head while you have the other two items in your main backpack and you'll preserve the head so that it won't decay. Its a skill based difficulty check (so 60 skill = 60% chance of success.) You won't ruin the head even if you fail, but you'll use up the other items. Broken TotemsA tinker now can repair totem animals. Obsidian totems will require obsidian to repair. Likewise, porcelain totems will require porcelain to repair. Making ClocksTo make a clock, you need a clock frame, springs, gears, and an axle. Use the gears and it'll automatically go together with the axle to make an axle with gears. Use that and it'll go together with the springs to make clock parts. Use the clock frame and you get a clock. Making SextantsTo make a sextant you will need 2 axles, gears and a hinge. Double click either an axle or the gears to get an 'axle and gears'. Double click the hinge while you have that and the axle and gears in your backpack and you'll get sextant parts. Double click the sextant parts while you have yet another axle and you'll get a sextant Making CannonsTo make a Cannon Deed you will need a Cannon Mount and an Unmounted Cannon in your main Backpack. Double click either and after passing a Tinkering Skill check of 110, you should assemble a cannon deed. To use the Cannon Deed you double click it in your home and choose the direction you want it to face. To fire the Cannon you will need a Cannon Ball and a Charge of Gun Powder somewhere in your Backpack. Double click the Cannon and then select your target. Colored GlazeTo create a glaze suitable for colouring glass, obsidian and porcelain creations you will need several components. A reinforced dye tub, a mortar suitable for grinding the gems in and two bags of acidic powder for dissolving the gems into the glaze. Use your mortar to select the powder and gems you would like to color the glaze with. Take care to have all your ingredients ready as once the powder is opened it will react very quickly and be useless if you need to restart the process. This is a precise process and only the most skilled of tinkers will be able to make a stable glaze. It will take up to 1000 gems to make a suitable mix, the quality of the gems will determine how many you use and how long the glaze will last for. |
